Self-Awareness

When you look up the definition of self-awareness it states: “an awareness of one’s own personality or individuality”. It is actually deeper emotionally than the definition.

It helps you to see yourself with clarity and authenticity through personal reflection. Even though you may not completely understand your “Why”, you gain the objectivity about yourself. To become self-aware in your life you actually recognize your ability to demonstrate your own emotions, thoughts, and finding self worth.

When a person starts valuing their strengths in life, they can see the successes and celebrate their accomplishments. They can then identify their own limitations that they have created in life. A person can then release what no longer serves them in their daily life, professional life and in relationships. As you start to see, feel, and notice these changes in your mindset, it opens you up to a new level of you becoming your best you. You start becoming as important to yourself as you held others on a higher level of esteem.

You are now an equal to anyone because you have learned your self-esteem, worth, and value in your life. This opens you up to make better decisions personally, professionally and in your relationships. Now you can put a discipline in place of self- love and care to maintain these lessons and continue to be successful.

Self-Care

It’s so important for you to take good care of your body, mind, and soul every day, not just when you get sick, feeling emotionally stuck, or always giving so much of yourself to everyone else and not taking care of own personal needs. It is about eating right, getting exercise to reduce stress, and most importantly, taking times out for yourself to regain that clarity of your life, to remain happy and resilient.

Practicing self care is another issue. Due to busy schedules, high pressures in your job, and maintaining family responsibilities, which may include your schedule and even your children’s schedule with school, sports, and other activities. It ultimately becomes harder and harder for any self care time for you.

It is very common for a person to begin verbally attacking themselves and see it as failure and thereby not achieving any promises we have made to ourselves. We feel guilty, frustrated, and even at times becoming depressed because we as human beings beat ourselves up emotionally and mentally harder than anyone else could imagine.

There are ways in even the most complicated and busy lifestyles where you can learn to build in some time for your own self-care. There are different ways that are not time consuming, that you can do at home, and receive the self-care you deserve from yourself.

There are many avenues you can use to help yourself become your best you. Here are some things to think about:

A) Make sure you make sleeping a major part of your self care practice. When a person is not sleep deprived, they seem to feel better, have a better understanding of what is going on around them, as well as experiencing clarity in their work, personal life, and relationships.

B) Get organized in your personal life. Creating calendars to keep track of all your appointments and family member daily schedules can be crucial in ensuring everyone has the ability to achieve their daily goals. It is equally critical to keep a schedule for work to better accomplish daily tasks, and those all important project schedules. This prevents becoming frustrated and feeling overwhelmed in all areas of your life.

C) An important thing to do as much as possible is to go outside and feel the open expanses of your here-and-now. Sit in the backyard and watch your kids play. You may also want to bring a book you have been wanting to read. Connecting to nature reduces a lot of stress, reduce fatigue, and enlighten your spirit.

D) Prepare meals in advance. By cooking your own food and scheduling evening meals, it helps to bring everyone together and facilitates conversations about how each one’s day has gone and staying in touch beyond the parent/teacher’s notes and other distractions. Also by preparing your own food, it helps your body to get the correct amount of nutritional food not only for yourself but also for your family.
